Book Scents

via Robert Ebert

Wallpaper* magazine commissioned Geza Schoen to create a perfume for an exhibition in Milan that was reminiscent of books.  The perfume, Paper Passion, is meant to capture the same relaxing, meditative allure of a good book.

The packaging by Karl Lagerfeld and Gerhard Steidl is lovely.  It’s nice to see how they pulled the theme through to the packaging.  Karl Lagerfield writes, “The smell of a freshly printed book is the best smell in the world”.

With the technological age that we live in with ebooks, laptops, & & text messaging, electronic transfer of information has taken over the role of paper for many.  Generations that grew up with books over computers are nostalgic for the feel, the look, the smell of paper & romanticize about curling up with a good book in a picturesque English library.  Scents can pull the most powerful emotions from our memories!  I cannot wait to check this perfume out!
