Waves of Breath

There is a peace & tranquility that the beach possesses.

The sound of the waves produces a steady rhythm.  The rhythm of the waves is patterned much like the rhythm of your heart beat or your breathing.  Listening to the waves helps one to connect to their internal rhythms creating a meditative state.   In this meditative state one can begin to connect their mind, body & spirit.

I focus much of my yoga teaching on breathing.  The inhale is like the waves being pulled back into the ocean, the exhale is like the waves slowly unfolding on the shore.   Taking these full cycled inhales & exhales decreases stress & creates space for clearer more focused thought patterns.

This is a pic I took this summer on a beach retreat.  Creating such time & space with nature  is a great way to healthily recharge your batteries!  It’s one of the many ways that the beach helps to cleanse & restore your mind.
