Mariachi for Momma!

It is a Spanish tradition that Mother’s are serenaded by Mariachi bands.  Therefore mariachi performers are their busiest on Mother’s Day!

A director in Texas for the band Mariachi Los Arrieros del Valle, Alex Trevino, said in an article on mariachi.com that “Mother’s Day serenatas last about 12-15 minutes….we teach our students at McAllen High School these popular Mother’s Day songs as a way to help them carry on this cultural tradition”.  His band most often performs a song that compares a mother to a rose.  It is called,  “Madrecita del alma querida.”  The meaning behind this Spanish song translates to “no matter how many loves a man experiences in his life, none will be equal to his mother’s love.”

Happy Mother’s Day!!!
